Firstly, a massive SPOILER WARNING for this whole blogpost! Please only proceed reading if you are okay to read a few major story points ahead of the coming con season 2025. If you want to know more about the immediate OT & IT future of the Mitrasperan tribes, this is the blogpost for you. If you would like to fully experience the story in game, stop reading NOW, you have been warned!
Beware, spoilers start here.
Why this blogpost? We know how much of an iconic part of the gameworld the tribes are and have been in the world of Mythodea since the early days of its history. As the story progresses and aspects of the game world evolve, and now at a point where the whole scope of the world of Mythodea is about to expand into new and exciting territories, we want to create clarity and transparency for the players who have been deeply invested in the story of the tribes. The tribe players have been informed a few months ago already about the current plotline, and we would like to now extend first hand information to the player community as a whole, for those interested in the OT & IT developments and their intentions.
What has started with the proclamation of Mitraspera – that she will reclaim the energies of the elemental tribes, will continue developing as a plotline until JDS 2025. We consciously called this blogpost and also the plotline itself “the transformation of the elemental tribes”, as this plot’s conclusion will not be the end of the elemental tribes, but a continuation and evolution in more than one way. While we won’t fully spoil the plot’s direction, it will be a storyline of grand emotions, deep connections, of elemental play offers, and a chance for dramatic character finales, or dramatic transformations into something new, yet familiar.
Speaking OT, what will happen to the tribes’ characters & players?
The story of the tribes in their current, traditional state, will be told towards a dramatic finale, after which the tribes in their known capacity will no longer function. We know how beloved many of the tribe characters have become, and the plot will therefore offer an OT choice to the players of these characters: they can either use this plot to tell a heartfelt conclusion to the storyline of their character, or if they want to continue playing this character, they will be able to undergo a transformation. It will separate their bodies and minds from the elemental tribe aspect of their being. These characters will be like newborn beings, without any special powers, elemental or otherwise, as these powers return to Mitraspera, and if the characters desire to regain magical talents, it may take years if it succeeds at all. This will enable them to effectively continue playing as full player characters, no longer tied to NPC duties and event directions, free to join the factions of Mythodea, and continue with their memories, and costumes.
What about elemental play after the transformation of the tribes?
For many years, the tribes were a home and facilitator of elemental play. Their transformation will be followed by many new offers of elemental play from a growing game world. All of the player organized elemental play will of course remain as well. The elements remain a core theme of the Realms of Mythodea, far beyond the borders of the continent of Mitraspera, and we are so excited for you to meet and experience the broad spectrum of elemental faiths, interpretations and play opportunities the world beyond the fog and Mitraspera has to offer.
The transformation of the tribes will also continue to echo far into the future of the Realms of Mythodea, and will remain a relevant living and present part of the story for many years to come – we can’t say much more about what this will look like without going into major spoilers that we will save for next year.
What happens now until the plot’s finale at JDS 2025?
That’s up to you! Engage closely with the tribes and the tension they are under, learn about the proclamation of Mitraspera, discuss or philosophize, create memories with the tribes, and use the time to celebrate, or mourn, or struggle – it’s your canvas to co-create stories and memorable moments with the tribes of Mitraspera.
